Update: these are pretty much how they look now (picture by Gareth Harper):

They're houses, one of them lived in by a family.

  1. Any chance of a "then and now" picture comparison, i.e. a picture of exactly the same view today?

  2. Armin: done, as near as could find the same view online.

  3. Thanks for that. Love how you can just pop out and take a random picture and it's still amazingly lovely.

  4. Brilliant. Thanks for putting it on and finding a recent picture of the location. I am glad to see that the view hasn't changed too much in the last 40 years!

  5. If you click on the picture, it'll take you to the photographers Flickr page, where you'll see it's by Gareth Harper. But yes, Berneray is the kind of place where it's very easy to take nice pictures. Almost feels like cheating.

  6. But why are the hills in the background so different? Were they painted in on the postcard by some artist's active imagination?

  7. I love these spot the difference competitions. I can see 6 differences, including some hills. What's my prize? The postcard was sent in 1967, but it's surely an older photo?
